A Very Zangrando Christmas!

Success! We got through out very first Christmas dinner! Upside down turkey and all!

We had a blast putting it all together…. and even stayed in budget! I wanted to bring together the natural look and feel of  wood, by using the burlap runner, with the contrasting metallic silver and vibrant red. I love contrasting materials and the warmth it gives to any room. We wanted the ability to use our downstairs as the appetizer/dessert/cocktail area. So we took the dinner setting upstairs into one of our larger spare rooms! It worked out wonderfully with plenty of room for all to enjoy and a large empty canvas for me to pull everything together!

I wanted to add a bit of a personal touch to each place setting. So off to Michael’s I went. As a D.I.Yourselfer I thought what better way to welcome everyone into our home by sending them off with their own Christmas ornament. These worked for two particular reasons 1. it let us pre-arrange the seating, and 2. it was a way for everyone to remember our first Christmas celebration for many years to come. Cheesy… yes… but that’s me! :)

Please note: I am not a photographer…. as I am sure you can tell!

Yummy Holiday Dessert Bar

I have followed Amy Atlas and all her happenings for a few year now {along with Mindy Weiss, Amy is one of my all time favourite event planning icons} and her work never ever falls short of amazing!

Amy is queen of dessert tables; or as it says on her website “entertaining expert, baking and crafting stylist”!

Here is a holiday dessert table Amy featured this week on her blog. This ridiculously adorable dessert bar was created by RubyJu. Perfect for the holidays!

Merry Christmas Everyone! I will be back next week to finish my Ten Days of Etsy Finds!

I Spy: Shabby Chic!

Another reason why I absolutely adore Tori Spelling is because she knows how to really put together a “shabby chic” wedding! I came accross this Twitter image and message of Tori’s containing antique blue mason jars the exact same day I blogged about Hazlitt Vintage Rentals

I’m getting excited about Tori and Dean’s new show- sTORIbook Weddings! She is absolutely amazing at styling any type of event!

Her message reads “My antique blue mason jars. Pulled them out of my arsenal to use in a Shabby Chic wedding this weekend”.

I Heart: Hazlitt Vintage Rentals

It is no surprise when I say Vintage is back…. and that it is absolutely true when it comes to styling your big day or your next milestone event. If you’re not a fan of browsing the flee-market or shopping the historical collections of your neighbourhood antique shop, than you need to take a look at what Hazlitt Vintage Rentals has to offer!

Hazlitt is heading on over to the I Heart section of my little blog….

Spicin’ Up The Scene with drop it MODERN!

Happy December everyone! I’m totally in the Christmas spirit and am so absolutely positively friggin’ excited for the new year! 2010 was full of blessings (and more blessings to come…. Madison hurry your little tush up!) and I have a feeling that 2011 is going to be full of even more surprises!

I had a friend on Facebook- ok well acquaintance… but aren’t we all friends on Facebook?…. any how… she is getting hitched in the new year and wanted to know where she could find a reasonably priced photo booth in the area. Well being the “Oh my god let me just give you every idea under the sun” type of personality… I went on to tell her all about a company called drop it MODERN.

Seriously… since I stumbled over these gorgeous backdrops I’ve been obsessed! Perfect for some photo booth fun at your next event, spicin’ up your photo sessions or snapping a beautiful holiday card!

How much fun would your guests have in front of one of these puppies… hands full of amusing props and thought bubbles? Um yes… I am thinking better than being crammed in an actual photo booth!
